This Advent we are journeying through the book of Matthew, his gospel in particular highlights how Jesus is the fulfilment of the old testament prophecies of the Messiah. This week V looks at the story of Mary and Joesph and we find that hope does not always arrive in the way we expect, or look like we think it should. Sometimes the Lord has to train us to see His blessing and favour as it truly is, rather than a worldly perception of blessing and favour.

We’re not defined by our worst moments – we are completely imperfect yet incompletely perfected, thanks to Jesus ... the Messiah. He can put everything right and make beauty from our ashes. This week we take a look at the genealogy of Jesus and you'll be amazed at what we can learn! This Advent we are journeying through the book of Matthew, his gospel in particular highlights how Jesus is the fulfilment of the old testament prophecies of the Messiah. This week Joren gives us a fantastic introduction as he reflects on the time between the old and new testaments, a season of waiting on God and how we remain in the waiting for the final fulfilment on Jesus' return. Joren asks us, are we waiting well and shares wisdom to secure our anchor of hope in Jesus.

This week V brings us a fresh perspective on James 5: 1 - 6 and the call we have on our lives as followers of Jesus to walk in justice and mercy. V shares that Jesus was the ultimate freedom fighter, we each should consider what we can do to share the hope and the freedom that God desires for us individually and our world.

Sometimes the hardest truths in Scripture come disguised in the simplest words. James 4:13–17 is one of those passages—it’s short, practical, and deeply personal. The message begins at: 11:25 It’s about how we plan, dream, and make decisions. And James asks us to consider whether our plans are built around our will or God’s.

This message explores what happens when we live by “my will”—and the freedom and purpose that come when we live by “Thy will.” It’s both a warning and an invitation: to shift from self-determination to divine partnership.

We are delighted to welcome a special guest speaker Lucas Bartlett is the Co-Lead Pastor of Surf Church Phillip Island alongside his with Ash and the Principal of CSALT Academy (Christian surfers advanced leadership training), a discipleship and leadership training school for young surfing adults. As Principal of CSALT Academy, Lucas has invested in raising up the next generation of Christian Surfers leaders. CSALT Academy provides immersive discipleship, theological training, and mission experiences, equipping young adults to live boldly for Christ in their everyday contexts.

Lucas’ heart is to empower others to discover their calling and to step into leadership with both courage and humility.
