Originally from WA but now living in the US, he’s traveled widely around the world, learned from innumerable mentors, and received degrees in history & literature, law, leadership & organisational dynamics, and (his greatest love) practical theology. Carrying on from last week Mike is sharing a second part about LUKE'S GOOD NEWS ON FIRE. Today our reading is from Luke 9:51-56. Expanding on the fire of God's love, there is:
1. A FIRE WE MUST AVOID: the fire of judgment
2. A FIRE WE MUST EMBRACE: the fire of God's love
"We need wisdom and discernment wrapped in God's love."
Mike also finishes with 3 questions we can ask ourselves...
Do we make people curious about Jesus, or push them away because of our attitude?
Are we carrying the fire of God's love, or the fire of our own judgement?
Am I using wisdom & discernment wrapped in God's love?

All the way from Advent through to Easter we are making our way through the Gospel of Luke, in particular Luke's Good News. In today's message Mike was challenged to share from Luke 12 when Jesus shares "Do you think I have come to bring peace to this Earth? No, I tell you, but rather division." which Mike relates about the refiners fire; Luke's Good News on FIRE:
1. The fire is God's love expressed
2. God's fire of love divides
3. Don't resist the fire of God's Love

We are very lucky today to hear from Guest Speaker; Dave Adamson (@aussiedave), as he shares that reading the Bible is complicated. 11% of Adult Christians read the Bible daily (Statista) and 47% of Christian teens have never read the Bible (ACC). So what can we do to fix this? It starts with our daily decisions that will determine our spiritual direction. Dave shares a beautiful encouragement that it can be easy to do, and that "one verse today beats good intentions tomorrow."

Last Sunday was Vision Sunday and our Lead Pastor, Mike Hardie shared about Luke's Good News for Goodlife Community Church. In Luke 6, Jesus calls us to be Disciples (Students, Apprentices) as well as Apostles (Sent Ones, On Mission). So for 2025 we as a community are being faithful and intentional about connection & contribution.
